I like to draw and build robots.
I also like to build things in Lightwave 3d.
I am not super great at animations, but I like to make them anyway.
I have some videos on youtube to show off animations and robots that I have made.
3d animations can be fun to make.
They also can be very hard.
I like Lightwave 3d because I can make the models that I need to animate with.
I can also download models and make them work in Lightwave.
I have a cool 3d program called Miku Miku Dance or MMD for short.
MMD has many cool things that it can do.
Live physics and IK are a few very cool things MMD can do.
Also the internet has hundreds of free objects and characters made to use MMD.
MMD has been used to make many motion files that can be downloaded free and used in animations.
You can also change these files in MMD or even make your own motions.
Because almost all of the characters made for MMD use the same bone setup and morphs, you can substitute almost any character in the place of almost any other used in an animation.
I also found plug ins for Lightwave to load and edit items made for MMD.
The plugin has a few shortcomings.
An object loses its physics if you load it into Lightwave and then save it.
You don't need to change anything for it to just lose all of the physics info.
Also, surfaces in MMD look very different in LW.
And surfaces made in LW look very different in MMD.
I found a PMD Editor made to edit chacacters made for MMD.
The PMD Editor will not lose the physics of the object unless you do something wrong.
If I understood Japanese I might be able to use the PMD Editor to restore the physics that L loses.
Some object made for MMD look very wrong in LW. The faces of some characters look a solid color in MMD, but in LW you can see what the face really looks like.
The type of shading used in MMD makes the face look smooth when it is not even close.
MMD is many times faster at rendering a scene than LW.
MMD does in minutes what takes LW hours to render.
But LW is much more powerful.
With MME added to MMD, MMD has become much more powerful than it was.
MME is Miku Miku Effects.
MME adds so much power to MMD that animations done in MMD rival those done in high end costly 3d programs.
Clones, mobs, fire, fog, water reflections and ripples are just a few powers added to MMD.
Sadly the powers that be said MMD will not be upgraded ever again.
I would rather they made it even more powerful and charged money to buy it than just to stop upgrading the program.
I hope they make a PMD Editor that has an English button like they did with MMD.
The PMD Editor would be much easier to use if we could read what a button does.
Just randomly hitting buttons and then trying to write down what it does when you have no idea what the Japanese letters mean is hard to do.
